In 1924 Lake Como was originally formed as the borough of South Belmar from portions of Wall Township. In 2004, voters in the borough approved changing the locality's name to Lake Como. The change became effective early 2005. Lake Como Borough is ideally located along the coast above Spring Lake between Lake Como and Belmar. Through the decades, Lake Como has managed to thrive as a resort and residential community, enhanced by its proximity to Atlantic City.
